Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and the issue of parking fines are used to help manage parking at Royal Holloway.
To avoid fines, all staff and eligible students must obtain a parking permit before parking on campus and all visitors will need to have their University host register their car on our parking system (no later than 24 hours before arrival), or register it themselves using one of our self-service machines.
Apply for a parking permit or update/amend your details
The following activities do not require a permit or for vehicles to be registered on our parking system:
- Dropping-off and picking-up people, including at our onsite nursery
- Quick deliveries
- Stays for up to 2 hours at the sports centre
- Stays of under 1 hours on the main campus
Driving on campus
Staff students and visitors should be aware that the regulations contained in the Road Traffic Act 1988 are still enforceable on campus and must be adhered to at all times. Download our traffic and car parking policy here.
Visitor registration guidance
Guests who are visiting members of staff, as well as any contractors working on site, should discuss parking arrangements with their University host and ensure that their car is registered on the parking system.
Visitors to residential students, such as parents or friends outside the university, who wish to park can be registered by a resident student at any of the Hall receptions (Founder’s, Hub, Highfield and George Eliot) or after 10pm via the Security Control Centre in Founder’s East.
Visitors to the Sports Centre for over two hours should register their car for an extension at the Sports Centre reception.
Guests staying at The Hub accommodation must register their vehicle via The Hub Reception Desk.
For guests visiting to attend a university event, such as public lectures, concerts, open days, visit days, conferences etc, the event will be advertised with specific parking instructions informing attendees where to park and how to register their vehicle (if required). Guests should please clarify this with their host.
On the day, visitors can use the self-service units located around campus to register their vehicle once they have arrived. Self-service units are available at:
- Sports Centre reception
- Visitors information centre (Founders Building)
- Hub Reception
- George Eliot Reception
- Estates reception
