Royal Holloway, University London has risen two places to 32nd position in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026. This upward movement reflects our continued commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience, world-class research, and impactful education.

The Good University Guide evaluates universities across a range of indicators, including student satisfaction, graduate outcomes, research quality, and teaching excellence. This year’s rise highlights Royal Holloway’s strengths in key areas such as teaching quality. The University rose from 93rd to 83rd place in this area, with eight subjects (Creative Writing, Computer Science, Drama, English, Geography, Music, Politics & International Relations, and Psychology) ranked within the top quartile of all universities.

The University also scored strongly in areas relating to student experience (rising from 48th to 33rd), reflecting Royal Holloway’s wider efforts to create a supportive, inclusive and dynamic environment where all students feel included and valued.

Professor Julie Sanders, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, said: “At Royal Holloway, we are resolutely committed to giving our students a brilliant educational experience, supporting them to learn and move forwards in their careers with purpose, and to using our research excellence to address questions that really matter. It’s so encouraging to see the sustained efforts of colleagues across the University in these areas recognised in this way, and we look forward to continuing to deliver on these ambitions as we move into the new academic year.”
