SEDarc Summer School 2025 had the theme, "Impactful Research"
Dates: July 15-16, 2025
Location: University of Sussex
We welcomed Dr. Joanna Miller-Smallwood as our keynote speaker. Her talk, "The Rights of Nature: Advocating for the Andean Bear in the Ecuadorian Andes", explored innovative approaches to conservation. Dr. Miller-Smallwood’s work exemplified how research could bridge ecological justice and community empowerment.
In sessions with Dr. James Morland and Dr. Emily Danvers, participants learned how to translate their research into compelling narratives that reached broader audiences. These hands-on sessions equipped attendees with tools to amplify their voices and engage the public and stakeholders.
Other sessions provided opportunities to discover research from SEDarc’s PhD and wider community, offering a platform for emerging researchers to share their work, receive feedback, and inspire interdisciplinary dialogue.
